WOW I like the looks of that green runner. As for arguments do not worry that is not happening it is just a friendly discussion and THAT is what I love about the nest. We all have our opinions and for other visitors they get to relish in the knowledge and come to their own conclusions......

I agree with Mopar Mike. I think that's a great looking '76 Road Runner. I'm "green" with envy! Maybe it seems at times like Mike and I are trying to compare apples and oranges. But we'll both agree we love these cars. Me, I'm talking as a 63 year old man going on 18 who lived back then when these cars were new, and lucky enough to own them then, and still have a couple. Mike may be younger. So he looks at it from a different view point which I totally enjoy. I may be getting old. But not too old to learn something new about the Mopar World. :bump:

Great place to share your Mopar stories etc.
Hopefully I will see some of you down the road at a car show.

Well Mike, I'm not too far behind you, I'm 44 years old.
My 76 Runner was my 'first' ever musclecar, I had her for 20 years, but always had a love for the 71.
If you've been to Moparfest in the past 8 years, you would have seen my car there. Now that I have my 71 It's just a matter of time before I'm back to cruising and all that fun stuff......
Here's a pic of the 318 that was in the 76.

And a couple of my best buddies Mopars.......

Yes I have seen that car. Nice job it must have been a fun ride. I have been to Moparfest with my car the last 2 years and will once again be there this season. Will you be there with a vehicle? If not come and find me and we will chat B body  Easy to find as I am usually the only 72 SSP and I normally beside a few 71-72 Roadrunners. In a few years hopefully I will get my GTX restored (Wishfull Thinking) and have 2 cars there.

Just a FYI... The 1971 340 was painted "Street Hemi Orange" not "Race Hemi Orange". There is a big diference in these 2 colors...

Hey, I don't know if this applies to Road Runners, but some late '71 e-bodies had blue 340's in them.

I remember looking at a '71 'Cuda back in the early '80s that was so equipped. I've since seen some magazine cars where this is pointed out. One local expert claims the engines were in fact '72 spec. 340s. I think both years would have had "J" cylinder heads, so this would be hard to prove. Has anyone else seen this?
Unfortunately we didn't buy the 'Cuda because we thought it had the "wrong" engine in it!

Back in the early '80s a friend and I went to look at a '71 'Cuda. The 340 in the car was blue!

Well we didn't buy the car 'cause we thought it had the "wrong motor"!

Since then, I've seen several magazine features that show blue 340s, they claim that late '71 E-bodies came

that way. I've since found a local expert that claims that not only were they blue, they were in fact '72 spec.

engines. This would be tougher to prove since both years should have "J" casting cylinder heads.

Has anyone heard of this on Road Runners?

YESSSSS!!!!

My Road Runner is a "late" 71 340HP (06-71). He has original a blue engine. I just rebuilt the engine, to swap it in my other Mopar, a 73 Scamp! The engine is definitely a HI-PO engine, but he was blue from factory!

When i bought my car, a was confused too about the engine. But reserches has explained, that a few late 71 HI-PO engines were effectively blue from factory!

All this talk about "correct" or "incorrect" clones and no one said anything about the motor being a 360?

You're correct about the 360, I assumed a clone builder was trying to duplicate the appearance of a '71 340 RR engine compartment. My hunch was that either color could be correct in 1971.
And Gionni thanks for verifying that this is what was in your car!
Did you notice if your engine had the high compression or low compression factory pistons when you took it apart?

Yes, my (blue) engine had the high compression factory pistons in it... (10,25:1 if I remember correct...)

Yes Redline337 the motor will be a 360. I see that 340's are getting harder to find and more $$$ to buy.
And with alot of the other B-Bodies have big blocks I figure I'll build something different. :stirpot:
