Anyone ever made or even has pics of a custom dash for a 71/72 Satellite or Roadrunner?
I want to make a custom dash but 1. never did that and 2. got really no idea how to make it fit there, the original is bend and I have no idea how I would have to make that...
Any ideas/pics?

I have thougt of the idea. I would like to make a dash with two separate speaker grills, one in each side, in order to get a better stereo perspective.
Maybe you could pull out the original and use that to make a negative mould. Then you could detail it as you like!
But I dunno what material to use for the casting, I guess you would want some semi soft plastic material.

My father makes alot of custom dashes for customs and street rods. Usually he makes his stuff out of 20 guage stainless. He will take a measurement of the area to be filled and then proceed in a couple of different ways.
1. If the area is fairly square, he will cut he sheet to fit, and bend the lips in a metal break. He then uses hole saws and the like to drill out all of his guage holes, and polishes up the stainless when he's done.
2. On a more curved dash, such as the 71-4 B-Bodies. He will cut the center section of the stainless, and put any curves he needs in the face.
He then cuts any additional pieces that can't be bent in the break due to curves.
Attaching these can be done in two ways. (A)Evenly spaced holes can be drilled in outer edge of the face, and sections of the additional pieces can be bent at 90 degrees to fit behind the face. The lips of the dash can then be screwed to the face using decorative stainless machine screws (IE; torx or allen key heads). Or... (B) If you have the equipment, and the patience, you can weld the additional pieces right to the pre curved face. Grind off the welds and polish, and they disappear. Then cut all your guage holes and TADA!!! Custom dash.
Either way... measure twice cut once.

I've always wondered how an e body dash would fit in a b body. The cost would be about the same as replacing it with a b body dash and the parts are more plentiful.
If I was going to make a custom dash I would check out some dashes in other cars, or go to the bone yard and get some ideas. Once you find a starting point things will start to fall into place. You can cover it with whatever material you choose, or just paint it. There are some really cool paints out there. Check out alsacorp.com they have some neat paints and coatings.
You could also cover your dash frame with aluminum if you have a brake, to give it a pro stock look.
