Nest Newbie ,motor question
I have a 71 Satellite that I purchased off the showroom floor as the 72s were arriving at the dealership. I put almost 250,000 miles on the car and then put it in the garage about 18 to 20 years ago. I started work on it about 2 years ago with the intention of making a roadrunner clone with a 383 or 440 engine. (The wheels on the car came off a 1970 roadrunner that my Mother-in-law was trading in on a brand new Ford Fiesta after her husband died.) Anyway, I have decided to stick to a small block 360. My motor guy said that my mounts would work from my 318, but when we went to install the mounts, one seems to be a little to wide. Can I put a couple of washers in between the space or is there an adapter mount for a 1975-360.

A small block is a small block. I'm not sure what u mean by 'one is too wide'. The original 318 mounts on the new 360 should work perfectly. The motor IS off to one side, thats factory.

rradar71,the 318 your referring to Is the original engine to your car?
Make sure you don't have them on upside down,i took mine off my 318 yesterday,Im pretty sure its possible to do.
nevermind they aren't the same either way.I think it depends on the years between each engine.

Re: Nest Newbie ,motor question
I was just looking at mopar1us site, where they talked about 1976-1980 blocks had wider "ears" on the front. I need to look at my old block. Unfortunatly It will be a couple of days before I can get to see it. Thanks
Re: Nest Newbie ,motor question
Wow, its been a long time ago on this. Finally figured out how to get pic small enough. The "ears" were more narrow on the 360 and there was this sort of cut out that I made a spacer for, to fit the 318 mounts.

Re: Nest Newbie ,motor question
That will work just fine. There are 318 and 340 mounts that are wider when trying to fit them on a 360 engine, but to get around that, shims or spaces or what you did does the trick.
