Hood Stripes & Installation

Re: Hood Stripes & Installation
For 71, the strobe stripes were only available on road runners and the hood to fender stripes were only available on GTXs.....eliminating the possibility of a car getting both.

Re: Hood Stripes & Installation
thanks to 72Rdrnner for that perfect installation guide!.
as for the both stripe on one car. at first i didnt like it, but as i time went i notice how much i liek both of those stripes, the railroad stripes are TOPP. but as for the rear stripes. people put them to wide, as for that blue rr you just posted wiht both stripes. i hate that rear stripe or any wide and large rectanglur stripes. so i finally todl myself i wanted btoh stripes but not so much of a color that stands out because yes it does look way to full on the car, doesnt look nice. and im getting my car painted candy black. when i though abtuo the flat black onto gloss black contrast.. i made my choice right away. AND THIS WAS BEFORE I EVEN GOT THE CAR. it was literally a dream to acually get a 71 or 72 roadrunner. and so ya here are some pics i picked up off the net. that have my stripes in my colors!

see look at this beautiful picture, when i thought about my car i said the mintue i take pics. this is the first angle im taking, i just love flat black onto gloss black!

You mean like this one? I previewed the link and it doesn't link straight where I want so check - Auction Scottsdale 2003 - Lot #789Eric wrote:Same standard hood yes, but the hood to fender stripes were different than the tank tracks for 72.....and the hood to fender stripes on both 71 and 72 cars were only available on the standard sport hood (horseshoes), not on air grabber equipped cars.

I'd be very interested to see documentation to substantiate that claim. I'm also curious how they know it is one of only two built that way (since there are no breakdowns like this from Chrysler). It aparently also received a very rare (for a mopar) frame-off restoration.RS23 '71 wrote:You mean like this one? To be fair, I do have one fender tag on record, a GK6 sunroof car, that is coded for both N96 (air grabber) and V8X hood to fender stripe. The tag appears to be legit, but the car is far from original (now painted plum crazy). No way of knowing if this was a typo or really built that way. With mopar, you can never say never.....but it was not supposed to be available.....

Re: Hood Stripes & Installation
Yeah I know according to Hamtramck docs I know it was not avail I thought you might find it interesting at that Barrett link. Well I posted it as I was searching Barrett for '71 GTXs sold and got many laughs. Like - Auction Scottsdale 2007 - LOT 1237.1
"completely documented car and possibly the best GTX in existence"
Yeah if thats true I will eat my hat considering that strobe stripe and seat covers and there is much more not right.
