On a 72 RR 400 with stock exhaust manifolds is the dipstick on the inside or outside of the manifold?
Thanks,Dave

I'll go out to the garage and check mine for you.

Well mine is outside of the exhast manifold- BUT I am pretty sure it is supposed to be inbetween the X manifold and the valve cover.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Mine is also on the outside and is pretty much into the inner fender. That is why I didn't think it was correct. The engine is out of the car so I thought this would be the time to correct it, if it is wrong.
Do you have the emissions canister on your RR?If so could I get some pictures of the hoses that go into it?
Is the valve cover breather the single nipple used on most big blocks in the late 60's and early 70's?I have an air grabber hood but I don't think that effects the breather.

.
The 71 is different from the 72. The 71's don't have the black "coffee can" separator in the engine compartment like the 72's. I forgot about that when we were talking about routing the lines in previous thread.

The 71 has the seperator back by the tank. Not sure if 72's have that in addition to the coffee can in the engine compartment.

I would be bugging Steve- 1972rm23-. His is a 72 ( in beautiful shape). He should be able to help you out.

I just got my 72 RR out today and my dipstick is out side the exhaust manifold.
My car does have a 1970 383 in it so it's not the orginal 400.
