Is a 1973 Rallye Dash from a 1973 Roadrunner the same as a 1971 Roadrunner?

Now that I'm afraid I can't answer. Maybe someone else will chime in. But it wouldn't be hard to wire for a tach if it's not in your harness. Do you have a shop manual for your car? They're a good investment, and you can get reprints from YO, etc, or you can get them on CD-ROM. They have wiring diagrams that would be good for reference in this case...

Do the ralley gauges have a circuit board on the back-I don't remember. If it does, use your original circuit board. I tried using one (standard gauges) out of a 73 or 4 and everything was messed up. The wiring harnesses might be the same, though. When people sell the clusters adn bezels, they incude all years. Appearance-wise they are the same, so I'd say all you can do is try it out and see what happens. That's what I did until I used my original stuff on a different bezel. I guess you might run into a problem with the wiring if the original was one that had a speedo and then a large fuel gauge(?) instead of a tach or clock-I think I've seen one like that. If it had a clock, though and the other four gauges are combined just like on the tach clusters, you should be okay. I know you can buy a factory-type tach harness for around $50.

The Dashes for 71-74 on the B-bodies will all PHYSICALLY interchange. Stardard or Rallye.

If your going from Standard sweep to rallye- then ther is one BIG item that has to be dealt with. That is the wiring harness.

The wiring harness on the standard cluster ( long sweep) has a single plug in the back to the circuit board.

A rallye guage dash requires all those wires be extended into the rally harness, where everywire is run directly to the guage/light/power supply.

Now it sound involved but it really isn't. The wiring color codes are exactly the same for each dash. You just need to extend the wires from the connector out to the guages.

There are a few physical differences, but nothing that would affect installation. For instance. Some 73/74 rallye dashes have "seat belt" lights in the upper right hand ear of the dash- facing the drivers door. goofy crap like that. Or lighted headlight washer knobs.
