Grille blackout treatment

Post by 71Beeper » Sat Sep 26, 2020 5:31 pm

Guys, I need your :help:
Can anyone post some pics of their grille blackout treatment?
Getting ready to do mine and I do not have any reference pics to look at.
I do know they were done rather sloppy at the assembly plant as the guys were in a pit spraying upwards.
I'm going to be more thorough than that.
Since I have the front valance on the car, does the inside of it get black?
How far over to behind the headlight assemblies does the black go?
Any pics would be greatly appreciated?

Regards,
John

I believe it's just the front of the radiator support and the hood latch and upper valence support that get painted. The headlights have a black plastic surround that screws on . That's how my red Satty was.

Can't give a good picture cause my rr is black

Just a side note, not all cars got black out. I have a yellow 69 B body that didn't get it.

Interesting. With yellow typically being a lighter color, you would think that it would be one that would get the black out treatment.

funny I didn't know this was a thing - I didn't like how the yellow on my car stuck out like a sore thumb so I used plastidip in case I didn't like the way it looked and blacked out the front end - was this a option?Image

Per the factory engineering documents for 71 plymouth B bodies, there were only 4 paint colors that were to omit the front end area backout: TX9, GB7, GF7, and GY9 (all dark colors). All others per the engineering documents should have it. Interestingly, my survivor GB7 car has the blackout.

Kevin, I can't tell what that picture is showing.
Where is that part located?
