What size tap for LCA bushing press out?

Post by patrick » Mon Sep 24, 2018 8:21 pm

So after reading how the A-body guys do things, I bought a 1-3/8" tap to drive down the LCA outer shell (so I can press the bushing out) since I have a 30-ton press already. Stupid me, didn't even think that perhaps our LCA bushings are beefier. I tried measuring, but can't decide if I need a 1-7/16" tap, or a 1-1/2" tap? Anyone know?

Manual says to run an air chisel down them, but I don't have a compressor anymore, nor an air chisel.

For those that don't weld washers to their LCA bushings, I have confirmed 1-7/16" tap is the proper size for 73-74 B-Bodies... not sure of '71-'72 B-bodies. 1-3/8" like the A-bodies?
