Please help with identification

Post by eranney » Tue Jun 07, 2016 2:09 pm

I have an incomplete 71 roadrunner that I am just starting on. The hood is missing and I would prefer an original to a repro. I had the same year car in 1980's but lost it during my military career. I found this hood on craigslist but it doesn't look correct. Notice the double crease between the decal inserts. I recalled it being smooth and internet photos seem to confirm this. This hood is 21 hours from me and I need it to be correct before I commit. Thanks to anyone who tries to help me on this. :help:

The sort of "T" shaped area (sideways in the pick) looks like it is raised. That would be incorrect. Otherwise, it looks about right. Maybe it's been customized or otherwise altered, or maybe some kind of paint effect? Ask the seller some questions.

Could be pinstriping tape effects.

pic is deceiving, I'd ask a pic from the front looking down the hood, or just ask if that part is raised
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol

Thanks to all who responded so quickly! I hope I can contribute to the site in the future.
BTW mrsnicks was correct with the pin-striping. Good call.
