Heater control valve 71 w/ac

Post by GTX440 » Mon Nov 09, 2015 8:01 am

Hello,

I own a 71 GTX with ac.
Now I like to recondition my hole ac system.
I ordered a complete under hood kit at Classic Auto Air.
Now I'm sorting out the heater controle valve. I need to know if it's open or closed when engine is off. ( no vacuum)

I like to install this part:

Thank you for the help!

Why would you want a Phord valve on your car? The correct values are readily available. Do you have a factory service manual, cause you need one if you're going to work on these cars. The service manual tells exactly when the valve is open or closed. There are different placeless that the selector handle could be in that controls the valve.

Hot water valve takes vacuum to close it. Default mode is always hot and defrost. That way if it losses vacuum then the system goes the hot defrost.
