My F7 71 RR has black reflective right now. How do I know which stripes were originally on the car?

Need to look at your fender tag/build sheet. The stripe over the roof is V8X (X meaning black). It will be on line #3 last one on the right under "V stripe" on the build sheet.

I don't see the V you are talking about. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like yours had the V21 which in 71, if I'm thinking right, would have been the pinstripes in the recessed areas of the call outs on a standard RR hood and looks like no strobe code there so it probably didn't have one originally.

I would love to know what was included on the original. Whether it had the valence stripes in the rear or strope stripes.

No, not all of them had a strobe. It was an optional thing.

If it wasn't ordered with a strobe they just put the "road runner" emblems centered above the rear wheels with the "running bird" above them.



Since you asked, I believe there was even a fender tag code for the valence stripe "blackout" treatment, so your car probably didn't come with that option. But the only real way to be sure IMO is the broadcast sheet because they give a lot more details than the fender tag. Plus, depending on where it was made, I do believe certain codes weren't necessarily put on the fender tags at certain plants. I'm not the most knowledgeable about that, just trying to help.
