Hood release attachment

Post by GTX158 » Sun May 17, 2015 2:03 pm

Where on center hood support does the hood release attach and does it just use a machine screw? Sorry for all the questions putting back together after 5 years and have lost information or it didn't have it in the first case. THANKS!!!

If that is the part that you are talking about, turn the picture 1/4 turn counter clockwise, put the end of the release rod through the single hole and the other two holes should line up with holes in the bumper. It attaches to the inside of the bumper.

Yes that would help alot if my latch looked anything like that, I wonder if the cable and manual latches different.

I may have misunderstood. I thought you were asking how and where it mounts. Regardless of which style, the hood lock will mount in the same spot as the FSM image shows. The cable is retained under a strap on the verticle lock support with a single screw.

Okay after all your info and looking at some pics my latch is for manual and I thought I would just buy the cable and hook it up and be done. Well not so easy I need to get a latch set up for cable release. Does anyone reproduce them??

I think the handle and cable is reproduced but can't say for certain if it is the same in appearance as a factory piece. As far as the latch/lock is concerned, refer to the photo that Moparlar posted on Tuesday May 19. Notice the down-leg from the bottom and cable attaching points.

That's the problem there is no dog leg on manual latch and has a hinge spring that needs to be pull down and forward, there is a manual setup on ebay with pics but I don't know how to link it.
