horn pads

Post by RobsRR » Tue Dec 02, 2014 10:59 pm

I was wondering if anyone has a source for the horn pads for an original 71 roadrunner steering wheel type.(not the tuff Wheel) My horn has been hooked to an auxiliary switch since I bought the car over 20 years ago. It is a three spoke wheel horn pads (buttons) toward end of spokes. I never tried rewiring, I just assume they are bad. Any advise?

You might try looking at a black wire on the turn signal switch harness. If its the same as my ssp, the black wire goes up behind steering wheel and hooks to a spring plunger or what ever you call it, that comes in contact with a ring on the wheel. Assuming the relay is ok, it may be that the spring is broken or the contact is dirty (if all three contact pads don't work).
