Post by 1carcrazyguy » Fri Sep 12, 2014 9:00 pm

Has there ever been a thread of all the known 71 Plymouth B-bodies with M73 color coded bumpers?

I'm not aware of a previous post. This is what I've gathered through the years, only cars listed are verified by the broadcast sheet or vehicles that I'm fairly confident were equipped with rubber bumpers from the factory. This is the most information I'm comfortable sharing from the registry.

Road Runner
GY9/GY9 340 auto - Winsor
FJ6/V4X 383 auto - St Louis
GB5/GB5 426 auto - St Louis (unverified by broadcast sheet)
EV2/V4X 426 - St Louis
GY3/GY3 440+6 auto - St Louis
GY9/GY9 440+6 4spd - St Louis

GTX
GF7 - St Louis (unverified by broadcast sheet)
GY3/GY3 440 auto - St Louis

Satellite
GF7/V4F 318 auto - St Louis
GB5/GB5 383 auto - St Louis
GB5 (original paint parted many years ago)

Here are a couple that I have found while looking for pictures. Some of these may not be "documented"? However, I figured I would post and see if anyone knows the car(s) and if it is a real M73 car?

71 GY3 RR

Per Eric post below.................................

The B5 GTX that was written about, titled "Parted".

Per Erics's post below.......

I found a picture of a couple of other cars, one FC7 RR and a GA4 Road Runner, with the elastomeric bumpers. However I am not sure those colors were available with the M73 option?

I also notice that all the cars pictured which are "documented" have body colored mirrors.

Neither color was available with the rubber bumpers. I believe I know of both of those cars. If I remember, the GA4 car has a rear chrome bumper.

Eric, thanks for posting the info. Hopefully there are more people out there that have or know of other M73 cars that can be added to the list.

I ran across a printed ad from 71 that shows a red M73 Satellite. You could see it had a front sway bar but the picture was cutoff so you could not tell what wheels it had. Also saw an ad for a dark green Satellite (chrome side mirror also) but possibly a drawing of the car? No idea if they were actually produced or just drawn for advertising?
