71 wide rocker trim. Is this eBay listing legit?

Post by 71Satellite98661 » Tue Sep 02, 2014 12:54 am

Can anyone confirm how long factory wide rocker trim is? My narrow trim is 81-1/2" and was thinking of adding wide trim in lieu of. This eBay ad lists it as 71" long which in my mind would look pretty strange once installed. Here is the link...

Those do not look right for a 71 Sebring Plus. The metal clip is definitely wrong - the correct clips are plastic. I will double check my rocker mouldings sometime tonight. Scott.

Thanks Scott. I've contacted the seller and he says that at least three people have told him they are way too short. Too good to be true I guess. I imagine the clip studs would be somewhat centered on the rocker panels between the bottom of the door and the lower edge of the rockers? Mine are up high along the upper edge for the originally installed thin moldings. I really don't feel like grinding them off to accommodate the wider moldings if that is the case. I'll try polishing mine and see how they turn out. I would still entertain the idea if wide trim did come up for sale though :P

Here are the rocker mouldings off my 71 SSP. They are 81.5 inches long and I am guessing about 3.5 inches wide (forgot to measure exact width). There is a metal clip that secures the trim to one end, and a screw that secures the other end (I think the metal clip is on the forward end). The plastic clips snap to the raised studs on the rocker. Here are some pics.

Here is the plastic clip for reference.
