Did I just pay Legendary to recover the wrong panels?!

Post by 71Satellite98661 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 3:16 am

My heart sunk tonight. I have a terrible feeling that I bought 73 upper door panels at a swap meet only to pay Legendary to do a beautiful job recovering these in bright blue for my 71. The distance along the top from the door jamb to the rear of the quarter window is noticing shorter than it needs to be. Would any of you with either years 71/72 and 73/74 be willing to take that measurement for me so I can confirm?

Could we get a picture of what you're talking about. The lower panels are the same, so I can't see the tops being a whole lot different in size.

My 71 RR measures 38" at the top of the upper door panel where it meets the window. The lower part of the upper panel (where it meets the lower panel) measures 41-3/8". Hope this helps.

71satellite,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but yes, the 73-74 rear quarter window upper panels are different (shorter) than the 71-72s. Hopefully you can find someone that needs them for their 73-74 and recoup some of the cost. If you would like a picture comparison between 71-72 and 73-74 just let me know.
Scott.

Thank you fellas for the feedback. It is surprising to think about all of the different rear door panels for all of the 71-74 Dodge and Plymouth B-bodies. Here are a few pictures that should clearly show what I am up against. Keep in mind that I've only just "hung" these for the photo and are not fastenened in any way.

For future reference and comparison. 73-74 rear upper in front and a 71-72 rear upper behind. Just a little bit different.

Scott thank you for taking the time to post those photos. The side by side comparison says it all. Well, probably not going to be easy selling these. Are your examples for sale? Lol!

I have a couple of spare sets of 71-72 rear uppers. I know one set is pretty rough, but i think the other set is decent. I will PM you if I think the one set is sell-able. Scott.
