Advise and photos requested for back of instrument panel

Post by 71Satellite98661 » Sun Jul 13, 2014 10:06 pm

I am assembling an instrument panel from scratch and am foggy as to how the wiring and looms were routed and fastened. Don't ask me why but the body shop I took my 71 to decided to COMPLETELY disassemble the instrument panel and took no photos or notes. The HVAC components are pretty straight forward but where does this long rubber-dipped steel wiring trough (loom) mount? It has a a hold for a sheet metal screw on each end. Pictures would be a HUGE help, I am desperate!

I'll have to check my computer when I get home, but I think I took one when I put my new harness in.

Any photos would be great! This is a brand new harness too so it has no "memory".

I looked for it last night, and I didn't see it. Sorry man, i'll check again to see if it ended up in a different folder...

Oh man, that is great! Thanks guys. That shot of the bracket it the last of the puzzle. The instrument panel is back in the car and on the road again but will come out again in around 6 months or so. I buckled down and send off a core dash pad to Just Dashes for some fresh B5 blue! I am making due for now with one of those $100 plastic dash "caps". They actually look pretty good until it comes to the very right end of the passenger side woodgrain trim piece. The plastic isn't formed properly in this spot and holds the woodgrain out about 1/4 to 1/2". Hopefully the woodgrain doesn't stay like this and retain the bow!

Again, thanks guys. You are the most helpful bunch of folks on the internet

I, for one, would really appreciate if you did a photographic, step by step documentation of taking out the complete dash the next time you do. One of these days I need to yank mine.
