Spark plug wire looms

My 74 Runner has a '71 383 and Hedman headers on it. I fried one plug wire and damaged another

. Does anyone have a similar set-up or know of a good set of wire looms for the big block? I may look into some type of braided stainless shields if they are available. If someone has a solution, pics would be great!

If they are running that close on only a couple, go to Jegs or Summit and look for Sparkplug boot protectors. They are about 6" of treated fiberglass that slip over most ends. I have angled plug heads with the manifolds so I needed two for cyl 6 & 8. so far so good. For a loom i used wire ties like they do in nascar. Cheap, fully custom to what you need, where you need it.

See below, I installed the wire guides purchased from Summit with MDS 8mm solid core Ultra-Temp wires. Routed near headers with no melting/burning problems for 6 years now. The Summit loom part number is RNM-1104-90-C and sells for$99 now. The wire set part number was MSD-3108 and is no longer available, but Summit gives you a MSD substitute.

I'm running hedman 78030 headers on my 400 stroker right now, I wrapped the header tubes the first part of the tubing where the plugs are, also cuts down on engine bay temps, its not great for your headers but hey, they only cost $150 new shipped
side note, I went from a 10.5 to 11" clutch/flywheel and it pushed my mini starter out so it hits the #1 tube perfectly, with the 10.5 you could get away with a small dent but I ended up having to cut it out and reweld it in a different location to avoid the starter

ceramic thermal coating the headers helps a lot with keeping the outside pipe surface cooler too

Thanks guys. That gives me some ideas! The headers are thermal coated. The shop that installed the engine zip tie loomed the wires, but apparently forgot to tighten the spark plugs. The movement got the 6 & 8 in contact with the headers and bingo! I've got a couple of catalogs with looms and may do a combo with zip ties.
