I am almost done converting my 73 Satellite from column to console shift. Does anyone know the bolt thread size for the three bolts that hold the shifter to the floor bracket? My local hardware store stops at 1/4 -20 which is way too big. 8/32 is wrong and 6/32 falls through. I didn't see anything else in the bins. 8/32 seems right diameter but wrong thread.

I don't know what has happened to me but I'm finding myself keeping everything factory correct looking. I even think I'm ditching those ill fitting hooker headers and going back to manifolds. My car has no pedigree to speak of being just a Satellite Sebring, but I really am starting to favor a factory correct look. I am doing the big brake upgrade, but again with all factory parts. I've also done the I so delete but it is not readily visible. One of my favorite cars on this forum is Dixiesatellite's car!

ANSI / SAE sizes that are in that range are:

10-24 NC (size 10, 24 thread per inch "National Coarse" - saw use in automotive assembly)

10-32 NF (size 10, 32 thread per inch "National Fine" - saw some use in automotive assembly)

8-36 NF (size 8, 36 thread per inch "National Fine" - very rare - no use in automotive assembly)

Highly unlikely that it is metric, so the other possibility is that it is a special fastener made for the job, and could be a "fine" sheet metal screw thread.

Found it! It was the 10-24 nc. I even found one with a thread cutter tip and washer head. Now to get it all together.. I also see that finally a rear bumper filler strip is being repo'd. Just doing some general all around cleanup and I'm hoping for a factory console look as well as a very factory feel to the whole car. Thanks for the replies!
