Factory provisions in package tray/parcel shelf
My original package tray panel didn't have any trim clips and leads me to wonder what these holes are (aside from the speaker/rear window defogger) in the rear shelf. The biggest curiosity is to the large rectangular openings near the C-pillars. It almost looks like the possibility of rear shoulder-belts but I'm pretty sure those were only an option in Imperials? At a close look, it appears by the upwards stress in the metal that maybe this was a lifting point of the body but that may be a stretch. Any thoughts?

Rear shoulder belt restraints are listed as optional in the Dealer Guide and Salesman's Pocket Guide for all Satellite models for 1971. Code C14.
Probably not a lifting point.

That does appear to be the only place the optional belt attachment assembly could mount to the shelf.
The excerpt from the FSM is probably generic in terms of location, but fairly representative of how it was mounted.

Re: Factory provisions in package tray/parcel shelf
Thanks guys. The whole picture fascinates me. I would love to see this [factory or dealer] option on any B-body in person someday! Now I'm curious, are there perforations on the bottom of the package tray trim panel for the seat belt grommet as shown in the FSM excerpt?
I guess your right, I only remember seeing old photos of lifting rigs on the outside if the car, seemingly from the rear wheel lip if memory serves. I am surprised at how light the bare body actually is. Two people in my garage were able to lift mine, one on each end.
