Are the wheel lip moldings being repopped? If so, does anyone know of a source?

Layson's are made in China, but I got a set of them last year and I found them to be more than acceptable, if not show quality.:

Oh... I bought mine from Layson's last year at the Indy Swap Meet because Metro was out of stock at that time. Makes me wonder if they have been out of stock ever since.

The moldings are buffed and sealed with anodizing clear-coat solution, like all of our extruded pieces. They should not be re-buffed, or damage to the anodized coating will occur.

I take it they are made of aluminum. Someone needs to repo the stainless steel ones. I seen a really nice set of original ss ones for $300 at the Carlisle meet years ago and i didn't buy them.

I agree, I bought a set from Laysons about 8 years ago. Very good quality...just don't order from them (only buy at a show when you can walk away with the product).

Why is that, Eric? Is there issues with the quality or what? My only option will more than likely order them sight unseen, till I get them.

Original ones are anodized aluminum. just like the repops. Previous generation were stainless steel.

Layson's had a pretty bad rep there for a while, and sometimes struggled in the customer service department. Whether it was deserved or not, I don't know.

I don't remember exactly what I paid at the show (thinking $300), but they threw in a set of screws, and I got to avoid $25+ worth of shipping cost. So if you're going to be at Indy next month, that would be your best opportunity to purchase them.

Layson's has a bad reputation for taking an order and immediately charging your credit card even if the parts are not available. Some people have waited months, even years for their parts. They did it to me years ago....

I've heard that before. Thats why I'm skeptic about ordering with them.

I too bought a set from Layson's about 5 or 6 years ago at a show and they fit well and still look good today. At the time Other vendors listed them but were out of stock. Layson's was the only vendor that had them.

These are "official restoration" and I believe exact duplicates or NOS. I bought a set, but am a long way from being ready to install, so the sit unopened.

Here is my experience with wheel lip moldings. Those that are on the market are kung fu repos, that is licensed by MoPar. Every single one I have seen does not fit any where near as good as the originals.That being said they can be made to look good by hand fitting them to the fender, but I would only do that before the paint is applied. What I'm trying to say is you have to beat, and bang on it to make it fit.

I have three NOS wheel lip moldings, looking for the drivers front to complete my set. I agree on one thing, if you can buy a set in person, that is the best way to go.
