Trying to get some wheels, any ideas?

Post by Beepbeep! » Thu Aug 08, 2013 11:13 pm

I want to add some wheels to my bird, I'm kind of stuck on sizes, and back spacing. I'm thinking 15 7 or 8 on front, 15 8 or 10 on rear. 3 inch back space on front, 4 inch on rear if I go 7 and 8, 4 inch on front, 5.5 inch if I go 10 on rear. Then I need to figure out tire sizes. Anyone have some advice?
Thanks!

We're running the standard Chrysler Rallye, Steel, Silver, 15 in.x 7 in., 5 x 4.5 in. Bolt Circle, 4.25 in. Backspace on all 4 corners. Fronts are BFGoodrich Radial T/A 235/70/15 and rears are 275/60/15. I don't think the 235/70s are available anymore so I would likely go with the 255/60/15s on the front now.

I like the look of the 275s on the 7in wide rims, but if you plan on running it hard you should go with the 8in/4.5in backspace ones.

Thanks! I'm going with 15x8 front, 15x10 rear. The fronts have 4.5 back space, the rear have 5.5 back space. Police wheels. Now to find tires. ...... BFG maybe. Still working on it. Thanks!

10" police wheels??/ badass!!! I've got 7's and 8's and will probably be going to 17" rallyes...

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. Hopefully, they will work out alright. I'll post pics I. A few days, after I get everything installed.

If you have a copy of the Summit Racing catalog, it has some good charts in the tire section giving the suggested rim size for specific tire sizes. I found it really useful when buying my tires even though I didn't get them through S. R.

Jim,
I do not have a catalog, although I did order the wheels from them, so, I will probably have one soon. Lol.

I got the wheels today. Looks like the 15x10s will work. There's a sticker on them that says they are not protected against corrosion. So, I need to paint them. I'm not sure of using semi-gloss or gloss black paint. I'm thinking semi-gloss, as that is the color the edp coating is. I'll post pics soon. I have to do the power steering/brake conversion first.

I used semi-gloss paint. Should have them mounted tomorrow. Then some pictures. Everybody likes those.

Well, I got the wheels mounted, but had to leave town for a family emergency. I did not have time to post photos. I will once I return home. Hopefully, later next week. It does look good though! Well, I think so, anyway. :D

I'm back from being out of town, getting ready to add power brakes, then I will post some pics with the new wheels. Maybe, I can post a couple of pics before I start all of that. I'm not really a picture taker, but I will try. Well see how it works out. Until tomorrow!
