control module failure

Can someone please tell me why my control module keeps failing? I install a new one and within 5 minutes with the engine running it stops working.

Thats pretty vague. Just what are you talking about? Kind of car, engine and so forth

Sorry its a 71 satellite with the 383 and a electronic ignition conversion kit. when I put a new control module in it would run pretty rough for about 5 minutes or so the quit working.

The ignition control module needs to have a good ground to the chassis. Did you remove the paint on the back side of the module at the bolt down points before you installed it? Also, what about the points on the chassis where it bolts down?

I did remove the paint as well as adding an extra ground wire.
