Road Runner Nest

Have a question regarding 1971 GTXs. On the lower body pinstripe that follows the body line. Is the stripe just regular tape, or is it reflective tape? It's been so long now since I've seen an original '71 GTX. I can't remember, and a friend of mine asked me which one it is. I figured there are members on here who have or had original '71 GTXs who would know.

Thanks, maybe that's why my friend's car doesn't look right. It's tape, and it just looks too white.

If you've ever seen an original paint car up close, the factory did a terrible job on the pinstriping!

I might have a picture somewhere of how bad the striping is, before they stripped my fenders...

it's definitely paint, and I think it matched the light gold in my interior on my dark gold car.

Man, that's the truth! I've seen some original cars that look like they must have been striped by blind, drunk chimpanzees.

Now I know none of us would slight any of the skilled craftspeople who engineered and assembled our favorite cars?
I thinks it's wonderful that our cars are still around 40 plus years after their birth!

Hopefully none of the citizens of Detriot? will be offended.

Actually, the side stripe was standard on 71 GTXs. It's amazing how many are restored incorrectly without them.
