YO 17" rallyes all the way! they are the best repoduction out there and you still have lots of room, the later model center caps fit perfect, you can see them in my build here:

http://www.protouringmopar.com/showthre ... light=year

I unfortunatly couldn't use them as my 13" brake kit was just a hair too big for them even after shaving down my caliper mounts,
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol

I think 15s look great with the right tire. Pictured here are 15x7 with G60-15 tires. I plan on a set of restored 15x10" slots w/ 295/50/15 rears and thinking of 245/60/15 fronts on 15x7s or 8s.

Hi 71Satellite98661,

Are they Magnum 500s with chrome trim rings installed? They look great and are the exact look the look I am going for (never thoght of adding trim rings {d'Oh!)

Thanks Ian! I wanted a the look of true all-Mopar Road Wheels but with a polished ring. Magnums look great but this is a bit different and not seen nearly as often.

Year One makes a 17" version of the Magnum wheels as well...

Hi 71Satellite98661,

Thanks very much for clarifying. That makes sense and this is also my preferred wheel. Unfortunately when I bought my 15 x 7 Magnum 500s from Wheel Vintiques about 10 years ago, the only Mopar wheels they had were the Rallye's w/ trim rings. As I did not want Rallyes, my only option was to go with Ford Magnum 500s. If they had had the 15 x 7 Mopar road wheels like yours at the time, I would of course have gone with those.

I don't really plan to spend $700 on new wheels as mine are still in perfect condition. I will look around and see if I can either dress up the Ford Magnum 500s look more Mopar wheels (deep trim rings that will fit the 500s) or just stick with the chrome Magnums as-is, as they look great anyway.

How deep are these trim rings, just out of interest?

Thanks,

Ian B.

I also went with the 17"s and 40 series tires. They fill the wheelwells nicely. One thing to pay close attention to is the offset, backspacing, and your tire sizing.

To be perfectly honest, probably THE most difficult decision I encountered while building this car was trying to decide on the wheels. I would figure out what wheel I wanted then would run into issues where the manufacturer was either out of stock (for months) or they just didn't make the wheel like I wanted it. These American Racing Torque Thrust 2's were not my first choice but I wasn't going to spend the money necessary to have something custom cut and made specifically for my car.

In the end I decided on these wheels. 17x7 fronts with 0 offset and 17x8 rears with -11 offset. They do not rub at all but those rears are CLOSE to the lip on the rear quarters. I think it gives it a more exaggerated staggered stance because you can really see a lot more wheel lip on the rears. I could have gone with a wider rear wheel if I had done away with the negative offset but again they just don't make one wide enough with more backspace. All in all, I am happy. It's a huge upgrade over the original 14" road wheels. All in shipped to my door wheels and BFG z rated tires, mounted, balanced, lug nuts, centercaps, and chrome valve stems, it was $1300.

On my 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus i have 15z8 and i think they are 70s series, not sure, I have both my Satellites stashed across town for the winter and can't just go out and look. The front are 245s and the rear are 255s. Back in the 1970s I had a 1971 Satellite Sebring B5 blue with Cragar 5 spokes and similar tire sizes. My current 71 Satellite will also have a similar or the same tire setup with the chrome 15x8 LA-wire wheels I have stashed away.

The local tire shops say the 255s are hard for them to get and so are my choice of solid white letter tires. Anyway I have 18x9 and 18x10 inch on my Fiero 308 kit car and while it looks great the tires let you know about every freakin bump in the road as my old C4 Corvette did. I'll stick with the old school 15x8s for both looks and a smoother ride.
