Road Runner Nest

I bought a 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus that was in the process of being converted to a Road Runner Clone. Here are the tag numbers.

Someone pulled the motor and stuck a 440 engine in this. Engine Numbers are F440 11 10. Since they did this I think I am going to keep going to convert it. They put a Road Runner hood with an Air Grabber System on it. So here is my question....This has a Tall Torker Eldebrock manifold with a carter afb 750 carb. The air grabber system cannot be installed because the manifold makes the air cleaner set to high. So what manifold and carb will work with this system?

Here is a picture of how high it sits. Any help or advice on other stuff is greatly appreciated!! Here is a couple of pictures of the project.

This is my first restore on a car. Always wanted a muscle car so I decided to give it a try. I am learning alot and have alot to learn! Oh and first on posting on forums. Had trouble with pictures. Still don't have that right yet.

I don't have the original hood just the Air Grabber hood and the whole system. So to keep it a SSP I would need to find a hood or are you saying keep the system and just don't change the emblems?

Great factory color combination, black with a white canopy vinyl top and grey along the bottom. I'd love to see it put back that way.

I was hoping someone had an idea of the best fit manifold for that hood. Since I pulled the motor an tranny to go through them to replace seals an gaskets. I will measure when I get them back in there to see if I can find one that fits.

I was thinking of going through the suspension also. Is there better suspension parts to use or just use the standard parts from a parts store?

Sounds like a very well optioned SSP. There are not many around in original guise and they look very good if done well and good color combo, so would returning to SSP also be an option? Here is a pic of mine. Satellite parts are easier (cheaper) to source as well.

Sorry have been away doing the engine and tranny. I disassembled the engine all the way down to the block and it is at the machine shop now. I will hopefully get it back soon to start to put it back together with some added components for more horsepower. That's dipping into the paint fund so I am stuck at that stage.

Yes, it's a possibility, I haven't ruled out anything yet. My dilemma is I wanted to paint it plum crazy purple with a black stripe down the side. With the black vinyl roof in great condition I thought that would look pretty awesome!

I saw the post of your restore and all the work you have done and it looks Great! Did you just replace the bushings on your suspension or everything?

I think the oringinal colors are this car would be awesome, why change to In violet (plum crazy is a dodge color). Too many people go that way and I understand if there car didn't have cool colors like yours. Good luck

Cool project! You might consider selling the Air Grabber setup and going back to stock. Selling it would fund a lot of other parts you need. I'm sure you wouldn't have trouble finding a nice original Satellite hood either. Usually guys are trying to go the other way.

Edelbrock Performer manifolds should fit under that Air Grabber.
