1972 RR color code question

Was the '72 Road Runner available in B1 Blue Sky exterior paint color? Just wondering. I chased down a car in the mid-90s to try to buy it. In my mind's eye, it was no doubt this color. However, I no longer trust my mind lol. I recon it could have been a really oxidized B3 Basin Street Blue car, but don't think so. It had a white strobe stripe. Looks good in my memory. Googled to find a pic, but no-go.....

I owned a B1 72, it was on the cover of MCG in the early 90's. I have only seen 1 other 1.

Nice! I'd love to see a pic! What color int? Vinyl top? Stripes?
Here's the reason I was asking..

I'm not in the market for another car, but it kinda made me wonder which blue it might be, and if the B1 might be an option.

It was a Blue Bucket interior Black Halo top with black over roof stripe. Because of the light color I also put the Black tank stripes on it also.

Only about 200 (1972 RR's) were panted B1.
So fairly rare color.

My Dart is an original B1 Blue car and I didn't care for the color, but it has really grown on me and is very different than all the other colors out there. I will be repainting it that color soon.

Well, thanks for all the info folks. Pretty interesting to now know. I'd have to say that the car I chased down so many years ago was B1. Sure hope to see one this color in person again. I've seen it on a 72 Satellite and liked it. I bet that the blue interior would look good on it. Thanx again

Thanks for posting the pic. I couldn't find a picture on the net. Cool color on a RR. I'd like to have one at some point.

Turns out that the one in TN is Basin Street Blue/Blue int. Another one of my favorite colors. Not a lot of options on the car. Orig 340 automatic. I might go look at it this weekend if anybody is interested. I'll be in Polk county anyway.

I have 8 serial numbers for HB-1 Blue Sky '72 RRs. All of them have blue interiors, except for one which is a white bench seat interior. Some made in St. Louis, and some in Canada, 340 & 400 models. Maybe there's a couple of others in my list of serial numbers, but these are the only cars I have data plate info for. I have serial numbers for cars that I don't have the data plate info for. I looked at a HB-1 '72 RR at a Plymouth dealership in Garden Grove, CA around May of 1972. It had a blue bench interior, column automatic, 400, white C-pillar stripe, blue steel wheels with small hubcaps. It was sort of hard to see the C-stripe because the white blended in with the blue. I wanted a Road Runner with bucket seat interior, so I passed on it. I tried to see if I could special order a '72 RR, and they told me it was too late in the year to do that. Which today I know was a lie. Wish I had started recording serial numbers for cars back then, instead of several years later. :0(

Sounds like your database is more complete than mine for 72 cars. Out of curiosity, how many VIN numbers do you have for 72 runners (I have a little over 200).
