Is there a difference between the pattern of 71 Plymouth bucket seat covers and 72 Plymouth bucket seat covers?

Looks like I answered my own question. They are different. I was wondering why my new legendary covers didn't match my 72's original interior. 71 and 72 use different grains in the vinyl.

If you don't mind, I'd like to hi-jack your thread.
Does anyone have a '72 that came with the '73 style bucket seats?
I've got a late (after June 22) St Louis car that had '73 style front and rear seats.
I've seen a few magazine cars with similar seats.
Does anyone on the nest with a '72 have the later style buckets?
Do you know or can you prove your car was built this way?
I'd like to restore it the way it was built, but would like to know for sure if others were factory equipped this way.
Many thanks!

My 72 SSP was built in May of 72 in Canada and had the correct 72 buckets seats. My 72 RR was built on the last day of production in St. Louis and also had the correct 72 buckets.

Thanks Challenger

Maybe I should have mentioned my interior is black, in case color makes a difference.

Could they have run out of '72 black, and switched early?

That is possible, My SSP has white interior and the RR was gold. Probably not used as much as black so they could have run out of black and just replaced it with the new pattern as they had it in stock.

Thanks for that too, while my car has had the the engine swapped (for a blue '70 440)
The interior looks original, except for the carpet. There's no sign the car was driven since 1984.
I'll keep my eyes open for more evidence. And I think the two magazine cars I've seen had black interiors.
So maybe that's the reason.

Out of curiosity I compared all my seats and discovered this. My 72 SSP which has its original interior has all correct 72 grain seat covers EXCEPT the top back seat is 71 pattern! That made me look at my 72 RR which also has its original interior and it has all 1971 grain in it!

Ok, I've always thought my car had '73 style seats, because of the button type upholstery.
But they also have the hard plastic backs like a '72 should. So maybe what I've got are '72 Charger style seats?
I'm going to study some Chargers pics and Chargers at the next show I attend.
I mean weren't Chargers also built in St. Louis? :?
That's wild about your grain pattern differences, I guess I'll need to check this also!
