I wanna change the leaf springs on my car. I've been looking around and see them sold form left and right. are threy different? or interchangable? It looks fairly simple to change, are they?
the ones on my car right now suck. both sides only have 3 leafs. I think they are the origionals when the car had the 318. I currently have air shocks at 80psi to to keep rear up so I don't rub the tires when I go over bumps.

Re: leaf springs
One side has more leafs at least thats the way the heavy duty springs were. I dont know if its true for other springs.

Re: leaf springs
I recommend the HD leaf springs with different numbers on each side. That is what I have. My car was like yours is now. Weak worn out originals that PO put air shocks on.
It was not too hard to swap out the springs. I did replace the bolts and other hardware including the U bolt.

Re: leaf springs
The stock HD springs are worth it. The right has 7 the left has 5 to preload the axle to minimize wheel spin. The usually come with the front rubber bushing installed. I would suggest poly-graphite or delrin for the rear bushings in the ackles. U bolts should also be replaced.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Re: leaf springs
some aftermarket companies use left (or is it right) for both sides. Fiberglass springs are both the same but are in the earlier segments (20" ours is 22") in this case you need the 2" extension front hangers from firm feel or mancini. Also superstock springs come in the 20" front segments and you need to run the extended front hangers with these as well..
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol
