Airgrabber Door assembly help

Post by dangina » Sun Apr 08, 2012 3:13 pm

Hey guys - I bought a fiberglass hood and air grabber setup for my 71 from AAR fiberglass. I have mounted the airgrabber on the hood but I'm a little confused at how the flapper is attached to the airgrabber door. Does any one have any pics of building this setup from scratch?

I think I have some pictures, I will look through my stuff.

I hope AAR has improved their flapper door. I purchased one when they first came out and I just couldn't make it work. It was bulkier than stock and stiffer to rotate. Finally after wrestling with it over and over and over, I ordered a flapper door from PPG (I think, it was years ago). Popped it on and it worked like a champ. Moved open and closed just like it was suppose to. Now that I think of it I still have the AAR door in my garage.

Good Luck,

Dennis

PS I will see if I can find some pictures.

Tell me exactly what you need a picture of and I'll try to take them.

oh man that doesn't sound like good news - I need pictures of how the flapper is attached to the air grabber door - did you use a flapper from AAR or PPG? the one from AAR that I have looks a little bit different than the one from PPG. Did you also go with a fiberglass hood from AAR?

What do you mean it doesn't sound like good news? Kidding, mine is factory, the motor is out of the car so I can get up in there and maybe get some good pictures, BUT not sure.

Let me get some send me a email address, for some reason I have trouble posting pictures here. What are you calling the flapper door? The orange one in front?
