Purple paint on cam.... OEM for mopar?

This is my first project and I have a lot to learn so if I ask dumb questions, keep that in mind. There is purple paint on the cam as seen through the distributor hole in the block of my RB Block 440. Is that OEM for Plymouth in 1971? If not OEM any ideas what it is. Do not want to pull cam to look for numbers right now, engine runs good as is.

..................Thanks in advance: Your Friend Ben

Hope to post pics of the projest's progress as I am taking photos of every step...
DUH... Dumb question here. Where would I post photos like that?

Thanks for the reply. The boy I bought the car from (son of original the owner)said the engine had never been opened up. That runs in line with what he has told me..

It is an aftermarket cam though.
So you original factory installed cam was replaced somewhere in it's life.
A purple cam is a Mopar parts aftermarket cam.

Thanks for the clarifying that for me. That may also explain the some what rough idle I can;t get out. I wonder what opened up means to him?

....Thanks Again: Your Friend Ben

Well one of good things about a mopar big block is you only have to pull the valve covers and the waterpump/ timing chain cover to swap the cam out. So it was only opened. A wee lil  bit
