Road Runner Nest

Has anybody tried the E3 spark plugs? If so, how did they work? Did it help performance or gas mileage? I have my 74 RR with a 71 383 in it, a 90 Chysler LeBaron with a V-6 and a 2003 Dakota with the 4.7 liter.

For what it's worth. When I was young, and they'd come out with all these fantastic spark plugs that promised you the moon, and more. I'd ask my dad about them. He was a mechanic by trade. He'd say to me: "Son, if they were as great as they say they were. Don't you think all of the car manufactures would be running them in their cars? When they come off the line? They want all of their cars to perform and get great gas mileage. So they can sell more of them." Never did see any of these fantastic spark plugs pop up in the production cars.

My friend who is an ASE mechanic and instructor gets this question all the time. His response is that they work well in lawnmowers, not in cars.

Thanks! I know some mechanics also, and some have a hard time with change such as extended oil change drain intervals, so I thought I'd ask gear heads. I see the plugs advertised on a lot of the automotive shows, but never anybody testing or reporting on them!

You gotta think about it though. Why would car companies put good parts on their cars? Cars today are disposable. They have parts that do the job,but aren't the best.The manufacturers purposely do this so you bring it back to them.(Its not ironic that more things go AFTER your warranties up) If a car company actually puts 6 dollar spark plugs in EVERY car they produced,along with other more then standard auto parts. They would all go out of business.

From what I have heard and read some people have good luck with them others have bad experiences. It all comes down to if people are taking care of their vehicles,installing the plugs correctly.Theres so many variables and ANYONE can post an online review or tell someone something sucks. Before you make up your mind I suggest you wait until someone who has actually used the spark plugs posts.

Thanks SL74. I'm hoping to hear from somebody that has tried them. Due to medical issues, I won't be able to do anything with the Runner for several months anyway. Maybe I'll end up being the 1st to try them and reporting on them. Worst that can happen is the engine blows and I'll need to put in a different one! Though with only 100 miles on the car since the restoration, I may wait til next year with the plugs!

Contacted Stacey David Gearz, and got response. Said they use them in their personal vehicles as well as their project cars. In season 4 they went to a Universty lab and had them tested. I found the episode, but haven't been able to bring up the test results yet.

One thing is that E3 is a sponsor of Stacey David Gearz. So of course they won't say anything bad about them. I subscribe to another forum site where we had this discussion about the e3's. After you see the pics of what was left of the plugs that should make your mind up. JUNK!

Thanks moparite! I went to the forum and checked out a bunch of the threads. Considering the price of the E3's and that they're Chinese made, I'll stick with Champions!
