I need to get my 72 RR aligned after puttng on new tires. Is it best just to get the factory spec alignment, or is there a better set of specs for improving performance with todays tires and the poly bushings we have available?

Read this and you can get a good idea of what you want and how to have them dial it in.

Just remember, if you use the factory specs your hampering your cars performance by correcting for a problem you no longer have..bias ply tires. The "granny" specs are the basic factory settings. You may not be able to achieve much more than that with the factory upper control arms. I have the aftermarket units and love the extra camber/caster it allows. It really makes a noticable difference if you can get that HiPerf street setting.

road chicken,
I agree, but the FSM specs give you a place to start.
I use an alignment shop that does most of our Mopar club member cars and they have a good idea of how to set up a car, depending on how it's configured. Size of tires, suspension changes, how it's going to be used. For instance on my car the ride heigth they use is higher than what the FSM calls for. I'm happy with the ride, handling, and tire wear.

Not all shops have that level of knowledge, this way the article shows what settings to use depending on the intended use. Just gives him the knowle dge and options so he can deciede from a source whose probably got more knowledge on these cars and suspensions than relying on someone who may or may not. Even bumping the caster will give you much better hiway stability and the camber preloaded to +1 will make a hellva difference in a quick reaction situations. All without doing damage to the tire longevity. I say if you can have better for no more cost why not take it?

I participated in your
thread asking the same question over on Forbbodiesonly.com over the weekend, basically the same advice presented by roadchicken along with the 72’ FSM specs.
