reproduction Rallye Tach
Anyone here purchase one of these? I see they have them at Charger specialties for $200. Just wonderinf if they are accurate and if I need the repop wiring harness or just give it the instrument panel voltage with a tach sense lead.

Ok, well I guess I'm the bunny on this one. I'll let you guys know how it looks when it gets here. Also ordered new heater control cables from Jimsautoparts. We'll see how good those units are too.

You might do a search on Moparts on Jims parts.road chicken wrote:Ok, well I guess I'm the bunny on this one. I'll let you guys know how it looks when it gets here. Also ordered new heater control cables from Jimsautoparts. We'll see how good those units are too.

Yeah, I saw that after I ordered...
No worries though. I have an evil streak for jagoffs like you wouldn't believe.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
Well the tach still isn't here, but Jims screwed up and didn't send the parts I ordered, which worked out well. I found another place called MegaParts out of Coon Valley WI. Their prices were about %30 less and they had the two heater control cables and a very well done and complete heater gasket kit for $122 delivered.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
I got one from Charger Specalities and it was OK except it was 8000 rpm (stock was 7000) and jumped around a lot, not to mention it wasn't all that accurate. Also had an issue with the screws and mounting in the Rallye Dash didn't line up so had to sent it back. They made it right but still.....then
I found a place "Red Line Gauges"
http://www.redlinegaugeworks.com/
And they offer up a deal where you can send them a Rallye Dash clock and they will convert it to a 7000 rpm tach. I did it, and am really satisfied. No jumping around and dead on accurate. I have the Mopar Performance ingniton unit (MCD 6AL) and just plugged it in. It fits in the Rallye Dash as it's the original clock and they use the same mounting as the clock.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
Well the one from Charger Specialties just got here. I guess I will see h ow good it works first. Hopefully they have improved. If not I have the clock just incase. Might be an issue with the msd's programming that threw it. I have a Jacobs and it might be the same issue when it refires a cylinder.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
I know this is an older thread, but I had some input on my experience with one of these too.
Short:
Pros - Works, replaces the commonly non-working clock.
Cons - Wrong span, minor appearance differences, almost-ill fitting, inaccurate by as much as 500-600 RPM in my tests.
Long:
I just installed one of these to clean up the interior a bit. I had an older 3 3/4" Auto Meter Sport Comp tach mounted in front of where the factory clock was. Needless to say, I'm kind of disappointed myself with the reproduction. I noticed it was kind of strange looking...Then I realized that it was an 8,000 RPM tach, instead of the 7,000...but I figured whatever...No biggie.
Most of it looks like it was made in an CAD plastic modeling machine. The mounting baseplate was plastic, instead of the steel, which wasn't a major deal, but the screws are short to begin with and it was quite a bit thicker. Not to mention, same problem...Holes didn't quite line up either. [sigh]
It looks pretty good mounted. The needle is flat...Not three-dimensional like the factory ones, which kind of stinks for the dash light not reflecting off of it at night. But I can look past that I suppose.
I had to fight it getting a bulb socket in there for one of the dash lights. Super tight fit...Did eventually get it though.
The green filter for the right turn signal indicator was disappointing, it's not nearly as bright as the factory one, so kind of hard to see in the daytime, and on top of that a little different color green...But what the heck, I know it's on, and I'm not looking for concourse restoration here. So I'll let that slide...Again.
The 12v and tach connections on the back were reasonable. Looks like they held the whole tach together that way too. The 12v connection stud was pretty long and awfully close to the steering column with the cluster back in the dash. Just made it, but could possibly be a potential for problems if care isn't taken.
Started it up, and it works. Looks a little bit off, but I try not to read too much into it. Sure enough after I warm it up, I give it a full WOT run through the gears...What do I have? AT LEAST 500 RPM OFF.
Explanation: Numerous runs with the MSD 6AL and a 6600 limit. I'd call it accurate with the Auto Meter, right about 6550-6650 it starts breaking up like it's supposed to and doing it consistently. Awesome! New tach? Shows 7000-7100 before it starts breaking up. That's quite a bit off.
This isn't bad if you want something to look at for just cruising around town, or something to take place of the clock in general, but as for function and fit? I'd say the bad outweighed the good on this one for me. Maybe they'll update it and come out with something better, or maybe other companies out there have something a little nicer.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
Well all the same problems seem to be in place. It seems ok accuracy wise for the first few mkles and then 500 rpm off, jumping around as well and all the issues mentioned above. Will contact them and. See what the warranty is like, so sounds like redline may get the business since I have aclock

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
Yeah, I haven't looked into it yet. I think I might go to redline as well. I imagine all they'd really do is offer an exchange, but I don't wanna do all that work again for another tach that's off.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
For the money Redline would be the way to go. I know the factory tachs weren't all that accurate. They look cool though! When it doesn't go any more , SHIFT.

Re: reproduction Rallye Tach
Redline was $225 for the conversion. I don't watch the tach much when given it as I've shifted by ear since forever.
