QUESTION ABOUT INTAKES...

Post by nathan buckley » Mon Aug 15, 2011 4:43 am

Been a while since I posted due to issues with work, kids and general lack of time. But it's almost the end of winter here so I'm getting that feeling, especially when I saw all those pics from Carlisle.

My 440 source stroker is going together piece by piece... and I'm almost ready to fire it up.
I already had an edelbrock intake, but it's not a Performer! Cue a call to Summit. But before I do that.......

My engine guy says an M1 single plane will do the job... my question to you guys is whether it will fit under the hood of a RR?

your help is always appreciated.

That looks like a low deck block?

Hopefully for Nathan's sake it's a stroked 400 block. Loads of power, weighs 50 lbs less than a 440, and gives you a little extra room in the engine compartment to boot. Of course a 440 intake won't fit on a 400 that I know of.

Sorry guys, I posted that in bit of a rush... it's def a stroker 400. I went with the 451 in the end. I'm dummy fitting the intake this weekend. One step closer to ignition!

Woody - Should fit under the hood ok on a 400. I have a single plane (not M1) on my 383 runner with no clearance issues
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!Image

thanks Eric....

I measured the M1, it's about 35mm taller than the Edelbrock. Might have to choose the air cleaner to fit!
