Rear Speaker & Blower Housing

Finally getting to the stereo system in my car. 72 rr GTX with factory rear defrost. I'm keeping the original look by leaving AM radio in the dash and installing a hideaway system. Front 4x10 is no problem, however, the rear is the issue. Whatever speakers there were have long since been removed. I saw an earlier thread here discussing this topic, but there isnt much detail. I'd like to install either 2 6x9s or 2 5x7s under the rear package tray. Right now the defrost blower is mounted in the passenger side speaker area. I have found blower & speaker housings for 70-74 E-bodies allowing you to mount the blower motor and speaker side by side, but nothing for B-bodies. I'm not sure if this housing would work for my car. Has anyone solved this issue? If so, how? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I thought about the same thing a coupla' years ago, It seems that when I tried to install the adapter housing the trunk lid torsion bars interfered. Just what I remember, could be wrong though! Try it and let us know! :D

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day, when I used to actually drive these cars every day, year 'round, I had stereo speakers and rear defog. I lived in the snow belt and NEEDED the thing!

Anywhoo, I used to mount the blower motor to the crossbrace behind the rear seat. Probably didn't suck in as much warm interior air as the speaker hole, but it worked.
