Figuring out original carb

Post by pats71 » Sat Sep 04, 2010 9:01 pm

I'm still researching and figuring out what carb came on my motor. I asked this question a while back and most of you guys said that it would more than likely be a holley. I've been researching more and looking over my scraps of the BS and couldn't find the carb ID. So I went looking through a 71' Superbee website and they had a lot of helpful info. Here is the info on my car:

-71' Roadrunner
-383HP/4 speed
-Air Conditioning and heat
-Power steering/Manual brakes
-California specs

This is the info I found from the Superbee website. The only thing I am confused about is they don't list a 383 4 speed with AC. So the only thing I can figure is that they built the whole drivetrain and simply added the AC. I'm guessing that #84 is the correct carb for my car. Anyone know what carb this is?
The last two digits of the assembly line part number, not the part number used in catalogs. This number will be used with reference of the engine, transmission, with or with out freash air hood, and with or with out AC.

30 = 383 4bbl Auto w/AC
32 = 440 4bbl 4spd
34 = 440 6pk 4spd w/Ramcharger
35 = 440 6pk Auto w/Ramcharger
42 = 383 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger
48 = 383 4bbl 4spd
50 = 383 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger
00 = 426 2 4bbl Auto w/Ramcharger

383/4 speed/Air Conditioning

You mean "48", not "84".

You're looking for Holley list # R4667

"The Holley four barrel carburetor models R-6191A and R-4668A are used on the 383 cubic inch engines when the vehicles are equipped with manual or automatic transmissions respectively. These two carburetors are used with a Heated Air Intake System."
