Road Runner Nest

Is this the correct fit on my ' 72 Roadrunner. or should the small flat bit be against the lip.

I would have to look at my car to be certain, but on my 71 RR, I think I remember the gasget being broader and flatter than that, I could be wrong though. My ride is not on site here, so I'll have to check next time I drive it. Also, I used the yellow 3m adhesive, it worked very well fwiw.

The factory changed trunk seal designs sometime early in 72' production on these cars, part numbers changed, don't remember the exact mouth. My earliest built 72' had a seal more flat solid cross-sectional lipped seal and the two later produced cars had a hollow single camber D-shaped trunk seal that laid down pretty flat. I found that the current reproduction two-chamber D-shaped seal (like pictured above), dimensionally, was nowhere near close to the original later D-shaped single chamber seal and would not flatten down enough to allow the trunk lid to come close to closing properly, it just won't compress vertically as the original. Ended up pulling it off and ordering the 71'-early 72' reproduction flat lipped seal, no problems yet.

Yep, I got the flat seal too. Works perfect!

As I recall, its good to be two sets of hands when gluing the seal as it needs to be stretched slightly! I just stretched it and fixed it with tape every 10 inches or so before adding glue.

I used the black 3M weatherstrip glue.

Thanks for all the advice. I bought all my trim and weatherstrip from one of our members on this board ( exellent service !), the label said '71 to 74 B-body. I am going to try this and see how it fit, if not good, then I'll try to get a '71 strip. Being in England it is a bit difficult to just order parts. It is my 1st B-body, I have a Cuda, but the strip obviously is completely different

Nest member? excellent service? Sounds like our Nick, It's the repo manufacturer that's got this application wrong not the distributer in my opinion. The repo two chambered D-shape is nowhere close the original single chamber D-shaped seal.
