From the factory they would be the natural galvanized finish. That's what I'll be doing on Project Blue Bird.

I've seen a few (on various generations of Mopars) that where done with roll on or spray on bedliner. If you are building a driver and not after a totally factory look, I can sure see how that would give an added layer of protection to the tank.

I haven't noticed this to be common, but my early build LA car with a very original and clean undercarriage has what appears to be an original black painted tank.

Eric, Really? I didn't know that. The tank that was under my Road Runner (also an early LA car) is black, but after everything this car has been through in it's life, I never even considered the fact it could be original (the finish, or even the tank itself). Now I'll have to go out in the shop and take a closer look at it.

It's been awhile since I looked at it, but I seem to remember there being some original undercoating overspray on the tank that is on top of the black paint. That's why I'm thinking it was painted that way from the factory. I'll be curious to see what you find on yours Dave, as our cars aren't built that far apart.

i don't recall what the top of my original tank looked like, but the bottom and sides were completely sprayed with undercoating like the rest of the car
