No, I dropped my digital camera and am waiting for xmas. Maybe its not the full "RS23" but there is definitely a large "RS2" stamped there. I had to scrape the clue off with my fingernail.

north, the numbers that your looking for on the rear panel are called stamp sterling numbers, their on ever panel of the car, it's for the assembly line worker to know which part it is coming down the line. IT's on the fenders, quarters wheeltubs, ect. It's not the VIN number of the car.

Well i dont see any numbers stamped into my cowl around or near the driver's side leaf screen other than a "517S-93" stamped under the weather stripping there.

I also dont see any stampings on my horizontal rad support other than a "OD 11 1" on the front passenger side and a "31839" on the engine side directly in front of the battery. Could this number be on the vertical supports? These numbers are all very small deep stampings, like on the other body panels and do not look anything like a manual type stamp like on the engine block.

So where exactly are these vin stamps?

Also the "R23" stamped under the weather stripping are much larger and look perfect. im not having a good day. My wing brackets came in and I over tightened the bolts and dented the trunk lid under the wing feet. Man it did not take much. Finally a job I thought I could handle and I messed that up.

I'll take a look when I am at the garage this week. Do you happen to have a pic of the plate?

What do you guys think?

As a side note, I already have a '68 Charger R/T (numbers matching) that I plan on selling (which I never thought I would sell), but over the past year, I've really grown to like these '71 Runners A LOT.

I like that color combo, but notice that the hood hinge area has rust through (at least on the passenger side), and those wheels have to go  It really needs to have a set of correct tips installed too, other than that, nice GTX

Interesting, another GTX with a vinyl top added that isn't coded on the fender tag. Also interesting, this car is actually coded for the hood to fender stripes. Most GTXs you see with the hood/fender stripes are not coded for them and had them added during a resto.

I thought on the drivers side under the weatherstrip in the trunk was also the last six of the vin?? If you sell your Charger you will regret it every day for the rest of your life. Keep your Charger!!! Save your pennys and buy a 71 Runner too But NEVER SELL YOUR CHARGER YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER ONE NEVER EVER NEVER EVER SELL YOUR CHARGER!!! Sorry guys but a mint 68 R/T Charger is worth more than 3 mint 71 Runners. Chargers are in a class by themselves!!! There is no comparison!!! I stopped counting at 40 cars that I have owned (that was in the eightys) I had three Chargers, a 68,a 69, and a 70. I miss my 69 Charger more than any car I ever owned. There is just something about them..check it out. Padded dash, 60/40 split bench tan interior with map pockets, 318 auto..i junked this car in the early 80's because the quarters were a little rusty..I was a moron..this car is 50-65k today.

A '69 318 auto Charger with a column shift is about the LEAST desirable 2nd generation Charger made and as such in truly mint condition MIGHT bring $25k to the right buyer (you???). In fact, if you are really wanting a nice Charger project, my buddy will sell you his '69 Charger 383 2bbl (#'s engine), ps. pb, and ac for $12k. It needs minimal rust repair as it was a liflong Cali car.

I would say in this market a '68-70 hemi Charger RT 4-spd car is worth about the same (and maybe more) as a '71 hemi 4-spd RR or GTX. I love them both, and depending on the color/options on the two cars, I could be swayed either way :D

The 71 HEMI B bodies never brought as much money as E bodies and older Bs, but it doesn't seem they've dropped as much in value over the last couple years as the 68-70 Bs. I'd say they might be worth a little more now. Interestingly, my buddy has his 71 383 3spd road runner for sale and the guy interested is trying to sell his 70 survivor road runner to raise the funds....he can't get the $$$ out of his survivor car that my buddy could easily get on his 71 nicely restored driver.

Eric- that would be this car, correct? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Roa ... 20ade0c8ab
His RR is an automatic, they are ALWAYS harder to sell than comparable manual trans cars. I sold my FY1 '70 383 4-spd RR last year that was basically the same as the FJ5 car condition wise, but with a non-#'s engine and it sold on Moparts within 1 day of the post for $23k. The new owner brought it to Carlisle, put it in the pavilion and sold it for $33k a few months later! I would still be sitting ont the car if it was an automatic car IMO. That said, the owner of the FJ5 car seems like a nice guy that really wants to get into a '71 Plymouth
