Leaf springs, re-arc or buy new?

My car is sitting about 2" too high at the rear but thats just a guess as I dont know the stock height from middle of the wheel cap to the fender lip. I'd be happy if it hung about a .5" over the tire.

The car doesnt have ladder bars so I'm guessing its got the wrong springs on it. There's 5 leafs on each side with a mini leaf (about a foot long) that protrudes in front of the shackles but not behind. They're pretty dam firm.

So would you guys recommend buying new ones, and if so, where or have them re-arcd?

Also, any idea what the ride height should be at the back? doesnt have to be exact, I just wanna see how off it is.

Here's some pics of the car, and yes the front has been lowered and re-aligned since the pic. I'm proud of the car but frankly, I cringe at the raised rear and narrow tires.

I would go new. Since you've got to pull everything apart to get them out, why replace them with new. Also, if you decide to do an R&R with new, the car is only down for an hour or three.

Nice ride btw.

you don't have air shocks or anything like that do you? my car has stock springs, add-a-leafs, and air shocks. with the air shocks pumped all the way up, my car looks like that - handles like crap. right now i have my car about "perfect" imo at 25.5" in the front and 26" in the rear, i believe, sitting on 26.5" tires i think it looks good anyhow. and i have room to lower or raise the rear with the air shocks (for now, suspension is next on list of things to do once i wrap up the other couple projects i've started)

Thks for the complement and same to you.

Can you guys recommend a good source for new leafs other than Year One? I've read some nasty things about the Mopar Performance springs sagging. I'd rather be on the high side than too low.

Well for a GTX it should be left side - 5 HD leaves + 2 half leaves and right side - 6 HD leaves

I bought mine from Mancini Racing years ago. They are the Mopar SS springs, and the longer, adjustable front mounts. They have been in the car since '02 and I haven't had a problem with them.

Well it looks like I screwed up again. I bought new leafs from Chrysler out of their resto catalogue (Mopar Performance HD 4452982 4452983) and had them put in. The car seems to be riding at the same height as before. Not only that but I had them put the 2 half-leafs on the right side instead of the left AND the left side of the car is sitting a 1/4 inch higher. Ive been reading that one side is supposed to be 1/4 inch higher with some springs so maybe thats the case with mine.

The guys at the shop tell me the car should settle about a half an inch but these springs are dam firm and i think thats wishful thinking. The insurance expires tonight so I have all winter to see.

So how far am i from stock with these figures?: 26.75" left, 26.5" right

Maybe my tire height is smaller than stock at 25.75 245/60R 15

Looks like Im going to have to put lowering blocks and taller tires in.

The right side of the car is the passenger side. The spring with the two half leaves goes on the passenger side.Just installed these springs on my car and that side does sit higher.

Who's right? Ive got my half leafs on the right side (passenger) and thats the side thats 1/4 lower. I would figure the 6 leaf spring would be on the right to counter torque.

Anyone know what the stock height is? Maybe GTX's are higher than Satelites due to the HD suspension?

Mark you can have them

I'm running those same springs, IIRC the part numbers are stamped across the bottom of the lower leafs. Everything I have calls for P4452983 on the left side and P4452982 on the right(passenger) side.
Mine have settled slightly in the last year or so to what I consider to be a near perfect rear ride height.
Side to side differential height measurements can be corrected with torsion bar adjustments.

Yeah the part numbers are stamped in the springs.4452982 is for the right side which has two half leafs.
