wiring for heater (fan speed)

ok guys, ordered my new wiring harness, 160 speedo, and plenty of aluminum to build my dash. i was going to rip out the heater, but considering that i live in IA, i better keep it in there just in case i need a winter cruise.

i don't really use the stock heater control panel. the cool - hot lever doesn't work - i run a manual valve under hood now. the air diverter lever doesn't work either, it just comes out all the holes. the fan speed is the only thing i use on it.

so, is there a way i can run an aftermarket-type switch to control fan speed. at work, some of our trucks have auxiliary electric heaters that use a 3-position rocker switch. would this be an option with the factory blower, or am i going to have to use the stock panel? i haven't looked into it, just an idea to keep my new dash clean.

i was looking into different rheostats and switches and i think i'm just going to run a toggle or rocker switch putting 12V to the blower motor. i currently only use the heater on high anyhow, and if it does get too warm inside, you can turn off the fan and have indirect heat, or crack the window

i was hoping to be wiring my entire car this weekend, but my harness isn't here  ordered it a week ago...my new 160 mph speedo isn't here yet either, but hopfully will be - it was shipped priority 2-3 day (my butt), so it may still show up today. i'll probably get the new dash built today to get something done, as fabricating that will take me some time.
