Transmission cooler

Hi guys,

I would like to ask regarding trans coolers.
I think my radiator is leaking into the trans cooler and therefore I had an idea of closing the build-in trans cooler off and adding an external trans cooler on front of the radiator. Would this do the job alone and if so, what size trans cooler would I need?

Its a 440 purple cam, 3500 stall.
