Has anyone had any luck replacing the sockets on a set of 71 tailights. Mine are rusted and I am afraid they are useless.

good question. . .are these generic sockets? My 74 sockets are pretty. . .rusty, and I've used rust converter on them, but if these are a generic part I could find somewhere generically inexpensive...okay, cheap, it would be worth it to replace these with the rear bumper out now. ...

i'm not sure where you could get stock sockets to press in, but i've drilled an opening out and put in a generic socket, as i had one that was too far gone in high school....
currently, i'm thinking of sawing off the "socket", but leaving the bottoms to keep the housing sealed. then, drilling through the back of the housing, installing new sockets that point outwards, thus projecting the light of my LED bulbs outward....just a thought
