Road Runner Nest

Okay, I've been working on the Serious Satty, pulling a few dents, filling, sanding, fixing, WD 40'ing all mechanical stuff inside the door, and preparing the doors for reattachment) and I can't seem to find correct oem interior touch up paint. It could be I'm just too hot (damn MS cough is my signal to stop, and I'm coughing way too much, it may be time for a shot or two of scotch, it ain't a cure, but it'll stop the cough and help me forget about the heat) but I've googled the interior paint for a 1974 satty and am coming up empty. I've looked on Year One, the Paddock, and e-bay. . . but,

P.S. I found the door sticker number thing, the old owner from a few years back painted over it with black, so a little mineral spirits and a very fine sand paper block cleaned it up. ..gotta super glue a corner back down, but what the hell. ..it's the original door number i.d. thing-a-ma-bob and I'd like to keep it. ..but like any time you use paint thinner on black paint over Sherwood Green, you go a bit too far at times. ..and I need to touch up a few spots before reattaching and putting the door panels back on. ..

$24 for a can of spray paint (plus shipping)? I'm guessing that the black pigment they use must be special and rare, maybe it's some kind of reverse engineered alien technology. You could go to an auto paint supplier and get it a lot cheaper.

really depends on what you're doing - if it's white or black, definitely go with something at a local store....but, if it's a special color, say light blue metallic, ember gold, parchment, etc. i'd say you'll have to go with a repro paint if you want it to look right

And the problem is the metallic part of the paint. I'm not revealing the color yet, because it was a surprise to me as well, but let's just say Mopar never offered it with a white interior, which is what I'm installing, a white interior with leather door panels. ..

I went to Brookville's Napa dealer and they can get the paint I need in an acrylic enamel (correct paint for the year and Mopar, according to my research) but it's 60 bucks a quart. So, I'll be using a close match from Tractor Supply with the high end tractor and truck enamel at 5 bucks a rattle can. It's for the lower part of the interior doors that isn't completely covered by the door panels and the jams.

I'm so damn close to painting this thing.

I scored a brand new battery from my sister who bought one too many (don't ask, she's a ditz) and it didn't cost me a thing. So, the Serious project runs. . .it's just . ..ugly right now.

haha....i'm getting to that point now as well! when the motor is done soon, i'll have the suspension to rebuild, and then starting all over - considering an acid dip, patch panels, and LOTS of prep work and quality paint work, something i didn't get last time.

i'm intrigued now....i think i've seen you contemplate sassy grass plus black and maybe silver for your paint choice....have no idea
