Hi guys,
I have a bit of a problem with my ol' runner! -here goes...
I have installed a new carb. and now the carb isn't gettin' any fuel.
I have installed a new fuelfilter and all new fuel lines from the pump to the carb. Filter and lines checked OK.
I have installed a new pump - no change.
I have checked the fuel pump pushrod - no wear but still no fuel.
So my question is...whats left to check? -the fuel filter in the tank I guess, what else?
This old bird is killing me, engine got plenty of fuel with the old carb.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I would pull the line after the fuel pump and remove the distributor coil wire (so the engine will not accidentally start) and have someone crank the engine and see if the pump is pumping.put the hose into a can to collect any gas.If no gas I would then disconect the line before the pump and see if any gas is coming from the tank.

I agree. But it seems to me that there is something wrong with the new carb(wrong jets, plugged?)mopar71 wrote:I would pull the line after the fuel pump and remove the distributor coil wire (so the engine will not accidentally start) and have someone crank the engine and see if the pump is pumping.put the hose into a can to collect any gas.If no gas I would then disconect the line before the pump and see if any gas is coming from the tank.
fuel pump
my guess woulkd be the fuel pump you just put on, i put one on my 73 roadrunner, couldn't get it to pump gas, kinda aggravting when you have to push up uising the pump lever and install the bolts, keeping it tight and with pressure, i had to remove mine about 3 times before it started pumping
I should add that when I first installed the new carb, it got fuel enough.
When I finally got the ignition roughly dialed in, the carb. started to only get enough fuel to fill the bowls. It would fire up and run for a few minutes until the bowls dried out. Then the pump wouldn't pump anymore fuel.
I then installed a new pump and now the carb. doesn't get any fuel at all.
I have trid to disconnect the carb. and let the fuel run into a bottle - no fuel!
I have tried to let the fuel pump draw fuel directly from a bottle and up to the carb. - no fuel!
Thats why I thought the push rod was worn but I was wrong, its the same lenght as a new one.

Make sure you have the inlet and outlet ports connected on the fuel pump correctly. A few people lately have connected the ports reversed and could not get fuel to the carb. Have someone crankover the engine and check which port is creating the suction. That port should be connected to the line from the fuel tank.
