Edelbrock throttle-lever adaptor question

I just installed Edelbrock's "Chrysler Throttle Lever Adaptor Kit" (part #1481) on my brand-new Edelbrock Performer Series (750cfm) manual-choke carb and now that I think about it, I'm not sure why it was needed. Now after looking at the following diagram at Jeg's (no vendor plug intended), it looks like it states that it's only needed for automatic cars. Is that what everyone else is getting from it? I have a four speed. Edelbrock's site sort of hints that it's only for automatics also.

Also, any pics on the correct way to mount the throttle linkage to an Edelbrock carburetor would be appreciated. Edelbrock sure is vague with their application/instructions!

On a different note, I bought Edelbrock's/Russell's Chrome Steel Fuel Line (single-feed) which is supposed to fit this carburetor, but there's some weird bracket appendage just hanging there on the passenger-side of the carb interfering with the fit. I'm not sure as to its function as it does not seem to move or anything with the carburetor. Of course, the carburetor manual that came with the carb doesn't explain it either. Sigh... Pic to come!

That adaptor is only needed on the auto cars. I have a 600 CFM performer on mine (manual) and just transfered over the linkage pin, and was done with it.

Cool. Got a pic? I'm just confused as to what hole the return spring hooks to, what hole the linkage pin goes into, etc. I've seen so many different setups and I'm sure it doesn't really matter much as long as one makes the lever go one way and the return spring returns it. I've even seen the spring connected in the middle of the throttle linkage end clip, but when I tried this, the return spring hook end bent too much in use and I imagine would eventually lead to failure.

100% on autos...my car needed an extension, but i just used the one out of my old holley..manual trans should be fine...not sure on return springs for eddy's but i know my holley set-up is pretty slick and i'm sure it would work on an eddy

Yeah, got it to work without the dang adaptor. So, anyone need mine?

Still can't put the Edelbrock hard line on there due to some weird brass thing that seems to sit on the top rear side of the carb on the passenger side. It interferes. Hmm...
