Have any of you guys gone with the newer silicone based brake fluid? I was thinking of flushing my system out and replacing it with the newer stuff. 8)

before you do that, do your research....I can only speak about Harleys in regards to this subject....you cannot intermix the two as the silicone based fluid will blow the seals out of the master and wheel cylinders....you may have to get them all rebuilt to accomodate that type of fluid....I ran dot 5 fluid in my system that was set up for dot 3....it made a mess and leaked like a sieve....luckily I just did it on my front brakes and not both....I would not have been able to stop....lesson learned the hard way!

Thanks! I did not know that, I would not mix them,I would of flushed the system of the old stuff, but you might have a point there, maybe the rubber seals might not be compatable. Thanks for your input
