Fender tag code F81

Post by pag5 » Fri May 02, 2008 11:32 am

I picked up a 71 RR from the orginal owner and was trying to decode the fender tag I have everything except 'F81' It comes up with insude trunk release, which this car never had. The original window sticker came with the vehicle and show no trunk release. Also the car has RR defrost with no mention on the sticker. I know that these could be dealer installed however, the original owner said it came with the car from the dealer. One more thing the sticker also states the vehicle came from Hamtramk not Windsor VIN# RM23N1R.....

F81 is a code that shows up on about half the Winsor cars I have on record. No one knows what it designates, but it was NOT remote decklid.

Depending on what piece of paper you are looking at, Windsor cars may say something like "Hamtramck Assembly". :wink:

The reason for this is that Windsor cars were invoiced out of the Hamtramck office, I have seen examples of it in dealer paperwork so far for 1970 & 1971.

Hey Eric,
My pleasure. Now that you know to look for it, I bet you see it fairly often.

If you see it on any 1972 or later cars, please let me know? :beer:

My formerly owned, highly optioned Windsor car, was F81 free....my GTX is a St. Louis car and does not have a fender tag and I havent had the time to look for the BC sheet, but will be looking in July....not sure of the 72 Satellite that my dad has....

Yip my windsor has the same mysterious F81. Heres another one I just spotted today that is a windsor as well with a F81. Why can't anyone ever take a clear pic of their fender tag? {BTW you got this one on record Eric?}

I tried to post some pics but they are too large. Not sure how to ftp to the site? My window sticker states that the final Assembly Plant is Hamtramk Assy. Car will be restored this year 383 auto, console, EV2 w/black conopy roof, Reflective stobes, Orange & black interior.
