radio delete

I bought an nos radio delete rallye gauge bezel for a future project. I couldn't pass it up. In radio delete cars did they use the same speaker/vent cover as in radio equipped cars?

I thought only 74's had the pictures. None of my 72's or 73's ever had those symbols.bruce wrote:Yep, radio delete cars have the same speaker/vent cover as radio cars. My radio-delete Runner even has the factory speaker mounted in the top of the dash... go figure.
You picked up a pretty rare piece. Was it actually for a '71 or the later model with the headlight indicator light next to the light switch?
That's weird about the speaker,I'll have to remember to do some checking into that for reference.bruce wrote:Yep, radio delete cars have the same speaker/vent cover as radio cars. My radio-delete Runner even has the factory speaker mounted in the top of the dash... go figure.

It's a 71 or 72, it only has the worded semi circular cut out above the switches. I got a line on a totally bare bones 71 with a 383 and 3 speed. I was told it was a radio delete car, the cluster is missing but it still had the antennae delete. I am hoping to get some proof of this car. I also was told it is a stationary rear side window car. It has a rubber matting left under the seats, so my buddy thinks it even came without carpeting. It,'s missing the standard hood the shifter the cluster and the air cleaner. I guess it's been in a shed in AL. for the last 15 years. The only thing my buddy is a chevy guy so he couldnt say for sure if it was a runner or a charger. So I'm not going to get my hopes up.
I assume this is a Satellite (not a road runner)? I'm not aware of the fixed window being available on runners in 71 or 72. You wouldn't know from the VIN on a 71, as they didn't use the RL21 VIN that year, but the fixed window was part of a package that included the rubber floor covering. I'd have to look to be sure, but I believe the code for it is A93. This would show on the fender tag from most build plants (some Winsor cars could be the exception).bruce wrote:fourforty6pac wrote:That's weird about the speaker,I'll have to remember to do some checking into that for reference.bruce wrote:Yep, radio delete cars have the same speaker/vent cover as radio cars. Interesting. Man, I hope you can get some pics! Although SOME of it's equipment will be on the fender tag, the broadcast sheet will be the place to get real info on how the car was equipped. Hopefully you'll find one still in the car. Good luck on getting it!
